What Kettle collects, why, where it goes, how long it is kept and how to reach us.

This website
dailykettle.com has no advertising pixels, analytics scripts, session replay, contact forms or mailing list. It is served by Cloudflare, which processes technical request details such as IP address, browser and time to deliver and protect the site.
What the app uses
- Account: an anonymous identifier when you start, and the identifiers and email your sign-in provider (Apple, or Google when offered) shares if you save your progress to an account.
- Learning activity: your goals, answers, the lessons and feedback generated for you, and your practice history and skill progress. These shape your next practice and your saved history.
- Material you add: documents, pasted text and links you choose to import, and the passages extracted from them.
- Voice answers (optional): the recording is sent for transcription and is not stored by Kettle; only the text transcript is kept as your answer.
- Subscriptions: your account identifier and subscription status. Apple handles payment; Kettle never receives your card details.
- Usage events: limited events such as a Boil completed or an import started. They never contain your answers, documents or recordings.
Focus stays on your phone
The apps you choose to pause and Screen Time activity data stay on your device. Kettle may record that you set up or finished a commitment, but not which apps you use. Outside activities such as a run or a workout are self-reported. You can unlock for today, turn Focus off or revoke Screen Time permission at any time.

So your information is processed outside Australia, mainly in the United States. We send each provider only what its task needs. Kettle asks OpenAI not to store requests (store: false) and has not opted in to sharing any data with OpenAI for model training. OpenAI may still keep API data for up to 30 days to detect abuse, under its own policies. Kettle does not sell your information or use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
- Goals, answers and progress: until you delete the goal or your account. Deleting a goal permanently removes its Boils, answers, skill progress and imported material; your XP and streak count (dates only) remain.
- Imported files: while their goal exists. Files whose import failed are deleted 30 days after upload.
- Voice recordings: not stored.
- Usage events: deleted after 13 months.
- Service logs: kept by our hosting provider for 7 days. They are not designed to contain your answers, documents or recordings.
- Backups: Kettle's database host does not currently keep backups of Kettle's data. If that changes, backups will expire within 7 days and this page will be updated.
- Spend records: the cost of each AI request is kept for budgeting, without any link to you once your account is deleted.
Deleting your account
In the app, tap the person icon on Today, then Delete my account and data. Your account is disabled at once and your goals, answers, progress and usage events are removed immediately. Stored files and your records at our sign-in, subscription and storage providers are then removed by an automatic process that retries until each is done; this normally completes within minutes. Deleting your account does not cancel an Apple subscription. See account deletion.
Access, correction and complaints
Email [email protected] to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to raise a concern. We aim to reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Adults and sensitive information
Kettle is intended for adults. Only upload material you have permission to use, and avoid sensitive personal information about yourself or others. Never submit passwords, verification codes or card details as learning material.
Changes
We will update this page when what we collect, our providers or these periods change, and show the new effective date at the top.
